The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy perceives that the program is a training and certification program for beginner and professional game developers in Indonesia with a duration of six months.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, appreciated the reopening of the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program 2024. This program offers training and certification for beginner and professional game developers, 2D & 3D designer artists, and programmers in Indonesia over a duration of six months, thereby supporting the development of talent in the gaming field.

Minister Sandiaga Uno, during The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, on Monday (2/26/2024), stated that the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program is a program providing online Unity training and certification for game developers, both beginners and professionals, in Indonesia, with a duration of 6 months.

"The Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program will be launched on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, with a target of 500 participants," said Minister Sandiaga.

He also mentioned that President Jokowi has enacted Presidential Regulation No. 19 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of National Game Industry Development, which is expected to strengthen the national gaming industry ecosystem.

"With this Presidential Regulation, it is hoped that the adoption and creation of local games can be accelerated, which can then be provided with incentives, training, financing, and marketing for them," said the Minister.

Kunal Soni, Director of Google Play Southeast Asia & Australia, explained that the organization of the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program has always received an exceptional response from participants.

"We first launched this training in 2023, and at that time there had never been a program like this before in the world. We are grateful for the great collaboration with Unity and the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), as well as the extraordinary response to the program, which was followed by more than 800 developers and students. We learned a lot from the first year of implementation, and the lessons learned have been applied to make the 2024 program bigger and better. This year, we are expanding the capacity of this program to accommodate up to more than 500 developers, 5 times more than last year," explained Kunal Soni.

An alumnus of the Play & Unity Training Program, Risky Firmansyah, expressed the benefits he experienced after participating in the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program in 2023.

"We really gained insights from professionals, especially for hobbyists like me, who are not from the gaming industry, so we could gain insights from professionals such as best practices in techniques and design. We were also taught non-technical factors such as collaboration with publishers in identifying issues, marketing, and information that is actually quite difficult to access outside," said Risky.

Risky hopes that with the reopening of the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program, more people will have the opportunity to participate in the training program to learn how to develop the local gaming industry.

"My hope is that participants can make good use of this program. If you need information, ask the instructors; they will be happy to help if you ask," said Risky.
