As a facility for standardized device testing internationally, IDTH is the largest and most comprehensive in Southeast Asia.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH) at the Telecommunication Device Testing Center (BBPPT) in Depok City, West Java, on Tuesday (05/07/2024). The president emphasized that Indonesia must become a producer in digitization.

"I emphasize continuously, this I continuously emphasize that we must not only be spectators. We must not only be a market and we must become players, become producers," said the President.

The President conveyed that IDTH as a center for testing devices with international standards is the largest and most comprehensive in ASEAN.

"It has been conveyed by the Minister of Communication and Information, the largest and most comprehensive in Southeast Asia, and this will become the leading digital device certification center in the region," he said.

The President expressed positive impressions of the newly inaugurated IDTH facility. During the tour of its rooms and observing the devices used, he found them to be modern and of high quality.

"I have toured all the rooms earlier, the devices are indeed super modern, very good, because the budget used to build this is almost Rp1 trillion, a little less. I asked earlier, how much did this cost? Rp980 billion, so if the equipment is super sophisticated like that, I'm not surprised because the budget is huge," he said.

The President said that testing these devices plays a crucial role, as stated by the Minister of Communication and Information in his speech.

"All digital devices are tested here, as stated earlier by the Minister of Communication and Information, that laptops, mobile phones, Bluetooth, access points, digital televisions, handy talkies, radar, everything is tested at this center," he said.

The President also stated that before devices are marketed, they will undergo testing here to ensure that security, health, and safety standards for the users are met.

"Before being marketed, they are tested here to ensure security standards, health standards, and standards for the safety of users of these devices are met," he said.

The President hopes that IDTH will not only function as a certification testing center and procurement of equipment and technology, but also as a place to drive innovation, strengthen the local digital technology ecosystem with easy access to certification.

The Head of State asked the Minister of Communication and Information to continue to encourage IDTH to become a center for research and development, collaborating with other companies to compete with other countries.

"I ask the Ministry of Communication and Information to continue to encourage IDTH to become an R&D center, collaborating with universities, startups, and SMEs, encouraging research and patents, supporting the development of testing and certification of local products, so that domestic digital device products can compete," he concluded.

Present accompanying the President at the inauguration were, among others, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, Minister of Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, and Mayor of Depok Mohammad Idris.
