Mendikbudristek: Digital Literacy for Civil Servants is Key

Nadiem Anwar Makarim stated that the digitization of civil service management is crucial amid the current technological advancements.

This year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) once again participated in the Government Sector Digital Literacy Training Program (LDSP). Kemendikbudristek's participation was evident in conducting Digital Literacy Webinars for Civil Servants (ASN) within the Kemendikbudristek environment.

Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim emphasized that the digitization of civil service management is crucial amid the current technological developments. He emphasized that the digitization of civil service governance involves not only providing technological tools but also training human resources capable of operating these technologies.

"The capability of human resources with adequate digital literacy is the key to realizing a ministry organization with a digital mindset," said Nadiem in Jakarta on Monday (25/3), quoted from Kemendikbudristek's press release.

Minister Nadiem added that digital literacy capabilities are divided into four dimensions: digital skills, digital ethics, digital culture, and digital security dimensions. Through an understanding of these four dimensions, Kemendikbudristek's human resources can build strong characters, high levels of nationalism, and reliable communication skills. Kemendikbudristek welcomed the Ministry of Communication and Information's initiative to conduct digital training for government sectors, including Kemendikbudristek's ASN.

The importance of digital competence was also highlighted by President Joko Widodo in his video address before the webinar began. Jokowi assessed that the challenges in the digital world are increasing, one of which is the emergence of negative content and the increasing number of crimes in digital spaces.

"It is our obligation to continue creating more creative content, flooding digital spaces with positive content, thus creating an educational, soothing, and peace-inducing digital environment," he emphasized.

Furthermore, President Jokowi added that digital literacy is a significant endeavor for all parties to generate many positive impacts from internet usage and to create a digitally literate society. "May this spirit continue to grow and encourage various initiatives elsewhere, undertaking concrete work to enable society to use the internet more adeptly for educational and productive activities," Jokowi say.
