The National University Network of Indonesia, along with the UN, supports digital transformation

This joint support is related to efforts to reduce the digital divide and promote inclusive digital education that helps drive economic expansion.

Indonesia's current digital transformation still faces several issues that need to be addressed, including the digital divide. The digital divide is still prevalent due, among other things, to Indonesia's geographical conditions consisting of various islands, including the uneven geographical conditions in each region.

This is also what the United Nations (UN) sees, prompting cooperation with several universities in Indonesia to support digital transformation in the country.

The initiative originates from 10 UN bodies, the National University Network of Indonesia (NUNI), and the Indonesian Digital Leaders Association (APDI). The idea is built on supporting digital transformation in Indonesia. This support is also related to efforts to reduce the digital divide and promote inclusive digital education that helps drive economic expansion.

"Addressing the digital divide is important in utilizing digital technology to address global challenges such as poverty and climate change," said Valerie Julliand, Head of the UN Representation in Indonesia, at the Launch of Indonesia’s Digital Transformation Multi-Stakeholders Partnership Initiative at the BINUS University Auditorium on Friday, March 15, 2024.

The event is said to aim as a new initiative to enhance Indonesia's digital infrastructure and capabilities to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event also intends to realize quality public services and strengthen cybersecurity and information security. This is based on Presidential Regulation no. 82/2023 on Accelerating Digital Transformation and National Digital Service Integration.

"We fully understand that collaboration is essential. We are very open to support from UN agencies or other parties in various ongoing initiatives. With the upcoming government transition, the momentum that exists needs to be maintained and continued," said Rini Widyantini, Secretary of the Ministry of PAN RB in her remarks at the launch of the partnership.

Rini expressed the need for an Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) team, institutional evaluation, policy evaluation, and enhancement of the digital capabilities of state apparatus to develop priorities for digital transformation development.
