Kominfo collaborates with Microsoft to strengthen government digital transformation

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Kominfo and Microsoft signifies a tangible collaboration between the government and a global industry player. One of its main objectives is to accelerate progress in the domestic digital sector.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has partnered with PT Microsoft Indonesia to enhance synergy in strengthening the implementation of information technology and digital transformation in the government sector.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, emphasizes the crucial importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector in realizing national digital transformation.

"The Indonesian government believes that multi-stakeholder collaboration is crucial, including through cooperation between the government and the private sector," he said during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and PT Microsoft Indonesia at the Kominfo office in Central Jakarta on Thursday (03/14/2024), as quoted from the Kominfo press release.

According to Minister Budi Arie, the government-private sector collaboration model will enable collaboration of expertise, resources, and the latest technological innovations in implementing policies in the digital sector.

"Moreover, industry players also have the opportunity to open new businesses, enhance market access, and expand service coverage," he added.

Minister Budi Arie believes that the reciprocal relationship between the government and industry players can drive a digital policy space capable of accommodating the pace of innovation, economic growth, and benefits for all parties.

Minister Budi Arie appreciates Microsoft Indonesia's commitment to collaborate in supporting Indonesia's digital transformation and facilitating knowledge transfer through the cooperation.

"As the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, I earnestly request global technology companies, including Microsoft, to continue promoting knowledge transfer as well as technology transfer in various collaborations," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Microsoft Indonesia, Dharma Simorangkir, hopes that the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties can trigger new innovations. Dharma Simorangkir hopes that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will create real impacts for the society.

"We hope that our step today in signing the memorandum of understanding can trigger, can stimulate new innovations," he expressed.

The President Director of Microsoft also appreciates the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology for collaborating in empowering Indonesia's digital economy, particularly in creating a new data-based and artificial intelligence-based economy.

"I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia for continuously guiding and collaborating with us in empowering Indonesia's digital economy, particularly in creating a new data-based and artificial intelligence-based economy," he stated.

The memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Microsoft Indonesia covers the development of human resources in the digital field, strengthening infrastructure and government digitalization, enhancing responsible artificial intelligence governance, strengthening the implementation and practices of personal data protection, and other areas.

In the event, Minister Budi Arie Setiadi was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology Nezar Patria, Secretary General Mira Tayyiba, Director General of Informatics Applications Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency Hary Budiarto, and President Director of the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) Fadhilah Mathar. Also present were the leadership team of PT Microsoft Indonesia.
