In addition to infrastructure, Nvidia is committed to educating nearly 20,000 Indonesian students to enhance their skills in the field of AI.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics welcomes the commitment of the American multinational technology company Nvidia in establishing the Indonesian Artificial Intelligence Nation or the Artificial Intelligence Center (AI).

Minister Budi Arie Setiadi stated that Nvidia, in collaboration with PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk, plans to build an AI Center in Solo Technopark, Solo City, Central Java in 2024.

"There is a commitment from Nvidia and Indosat to invest USD 200 million or IDR 3 trillion to build the Indonesia AI Nation in Solo Technopark," he said at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (04/03/2024).

Minister Budi Arie explained that the concept of building the AI Center focuses on telecommunications infrastructure and human resources or digital talent.

"Mr. Vikram Sinha (CEO of Indosat) has conveyed to Mr. Solo Mayor (Gibran Rakabuming Raka) that Indosat and Nvidia are committed to investing in infrastructure and improving human resources. (Why in Solo) because the human resources are good, the conditions are ready, there is also 5G there," he explained.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patria added that Nvidia's cooperation with the Government has been planned for several years to improve the quality of Indonesia's digital talent in AI.

"If I'm not mistaken, in the years 2022 - 2023, Nvidia also committed to helping educate nearly 20,000 Indonesian students to improve their skills in AI through the development of digital talent in Indonesia," he explained.

According to the Deputy Minister, the construction of the AI Center is a follow-up to Nvidia's long-term commitment in Indonesia through a five-year cooperation.

"This is further sharpened with the Indonesian AI Nation, I think it is indeed very strategic, and Nvidia itself is a company that we know performs well in the global AI industry landscape," he said.

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria considers the construction of the AI Center in Indonesia in collaboration with Nvidia to be strategic.

"So this cooperation is very strategic, and we hope there will be technology transfer as well so that we will not only be users but later can become part of the AI players that are reckoned with both in the region and globally," he concluded. (IN)
