Kemenparekraf will launch the MICE.id platform to digitize the MICE industry

The Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition (MICE) industry grew by 12-15 percent in the third quarter of 2023 and is projected to increase by up to 20% in 2024. Therefore, this industry also needs to be digitized.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) will launch the MICE.id platform in collaboration with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) and PT GoVirtual Indonesia (GoVirtual).

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in "The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno" in Jakarta on Monday (18/3/2024), explained that MICE.id is a public information reference platform and business meeting/MICE ecosystem in efforts to digitize and inventory the database in Indonesia's MICE industry.

This platform is one of the policy developments and strategic steps for Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf.

"MICE.id will be a reference for information about MICE in Indonesia and accelerate the coordination and collaboration process among MICE stakeholders, both domestically and internationally," said Minister Sandiaga as quoted in the Kemenparekraf press release.

Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf's Expert Staff for Business Development, Masruroh, added that MICE.id will also have a Pre-Schedule Appointment (PSA) feature to support B2B trade show events.

"So when event organizers of trade show exhibitions in Indonesia need a B2B platform with a PSA system similar to those used in trade shows in other countries, they can use MICE.id for free," said Masruroh.

Chairman of PHRI, Haryadi B.S. Sukamdani, welcomed the cooperation with Kemenparekraf and Go Virtual. He explained that PHRI collaborates with Kemenparekraf in terms of sharing member data and facilities owned by PHRI as a hotel and restaurant association in Indonesia.

PHRI has more than 3,000 hotel members across Indonesia, with a comprehensive data platform, ranging from room types and meeting spaces, availability, always-updated databases, to ease of transactions.

"And we can collaborate with bookingina.com as a marketplace platform to book meeting rooms integrated with the LKPP program. So, the data can be better for Kemenparekraf because our data is live, it will involve issues such as how many meeting room usages can be taken into account," said Haryadi.

Meanwhile, Director of GoVirtual, Bobby Chen, stated that the cooperation between GoVirtual and Kemenparekraf includes sharing visual data of hotels and venues, as well as other supporting features; even promoting MICE.id to GoVirtual's partners.

"We are helping to strengthen the MICE.id database through virtual tours equipped with a multilingual Virtual AI Assistant. Because usually when venues provide data to their clients, it's only in the form of photos, videos, or e-brochures sent manually via email or WhatsApp. Therefore, with virtual tours covering all facilities such as room types, meeting rooms, parking areas, outdoor areas, and access around the venue, it will make it easier for clients to find the right venue," said Bobby.
