Bank Indonesia records the growth of digital banking transactions, in line with the increasing number of e-commerce transactions, reaching a nominal value of Rp 453.75 trillion in terms of volume, 3.71 billion transactions.
The digital financial activities of the community are currently growing, including digital shopping and digital banking. According to Bank Indonesia's records, the number of e-commerce transactions reached a nominal value of Rp 453.75 trillion, with a volume of 3.71 billion transactions.
Deputy Governor Fillianingsih Hendarta, during a press conference on the Board of Governors Meeting (RDG), stated that the transaction value was spent on 3.71 billion items. According to her, this trend continues to increase in line with changes in societal behavior.
"Regarding e-commerce, the nominal amount for 2023 reached Rp 453.75 trillion in terms of volume, 3.71 billion, so the trend is continuously increasing," she explained during the press conference last weekend.
This growth is accompanied by an increase in online or digital payment transactions. BI notes that the value of digital banking transactions in Indonesia reached Rp 58.478 trillion throughout 2023. This figure grew by 13.48% annually (YoY).
This year, BI expects digital banking transactions to increase by 9.11% (YoY) and is estimated to reach Rp 63.803 trillion. Meanwhile, the value of electronic money transactions increased aggressively, rising by 43.45% (YoY) or reaching Rp 835.84 trillion in 2023. This year, the value is projected to increase again by 25.77% (YoY) to reach Rp 1,051.42 trillion throughout 2024.
Specifically, the nominal transaction value of QRIS grew by 130% (YoY), reaching Rp 229.96 trillion, with 45.78 million users and 30.41 million merchants, mostly consisting of MSMEs. On the other hand, the transaction value of payments using ATM cards, debit cards, and credit cards decreased by 0.81% to Rp 8,178.69 trillion last year.
