Generation Z, as the future leaders of Indonesia, must be equipped with the Pancasila character, which encompasses the three main values of the mental revolution: Work Ethic, Integrity, and Mutual Cooperation (Gotong Royong).
Penglipuran Village in Bangli Regency, Bali, was selected as the location for the 2024 Digital Generation (GenDi) Mental Revolution Gathering, attended by 60 Generation Z participants from various groups: students, university students, youth activists, BKKBN Generation Planning, and more. This event aims to make the famous tourist village a tangible example of implementing mental revolution values in the digital era.
Warsito, Deputy for Mental Revolution Coordination, Cultural Advancement, and Sports Achievements at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), emphasized the importance of the role of the younger generation in spreading the positive values of the mental revolution.
"Today's participants must become agents of change who can spread the positive values of the Mental Revolution, as demonstrated in Penglipuran Village, to the wider community, especially through social media," said Warsito in his speech.
Warsito added that Generation Z, as the future leaders of Indonesia, must be equipped with the Pancasila character, which includes the three main values of the mental revolution: Work Ethic, Integrity, and Mutual Cooperation. He stressed that, in addition to intelligence and technological literacy, the younger generation must also possess a mindset and behavior that reflect Pancasila values.
"What sets Indonesia apart from other countries is that we are blessed with the value of tolerance in diversity, a heritage passed down by our ancestors. Therefore, we are obliged to maintain this unique character within ourselves as a national identity," Warsito emphasized.
The GenDi Mental Revolution event is also expected to improve Indonesia's Digital Literacy Index. With 139 million internet users in Indonesia, the government hopes that the public will not only be passive users but also utilize digital technology to spread positive content.
"The Kemenko PMK is committed to overseeing the strengthening of human resources and technological mastery in preparation for welcoming Indonesia Emas 2045, as mandated in the 2025-2045 Long-Term Development Plan (RPJP)," explained Deputy Warsito.
Assistant for Economics and Development at the Bali Provincial Secretariat, I Wayan Serinah, welcomed this initiative. He emphasized the importance of young people being wise in responding to the rapid development of the digital world.
"We must be able to utilize digital developments as a medium for disseminating good values, best practices, and government programs in the socio-cultural, economic, and political fields," said Serinah.
The selection of Penglipuran Village as the location for the 2024 GenDi Mental Revolution demonstrates the commitment of both the central and regional governments to optimizing digital potential to spread Indonesian values and character. With a focus on developing quality human resources in the digital era, the government hopes to realize the vision of Indonesia as a developed country, with Generation Z as the driving force.
The fourth GenDi Mental Revolution in Bangli Regency marks the conclusion of a series of three previous GenDi events held in Surakarta, Central Java (May), Metro City, Lampung (July), and Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan (September). Through this series of activities, it is hoped that the glorification of real actions and best practices for change in society will strengthen, countering the negative impacts of digitalization while spreading Indonesian values, norms, culture, and character to the wider community.
