Minister of Trade Zulkifli emphasized the regulations in force in Indonesia. TikTok is expected to comply with the laws when conducting trade activities through electronic systems (PMSE).
Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, received a visit from TikTok's Vice President of Global Public Policy, Helena Lersch, at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 4th.
The meeting discussed the development of local businesses. TikTok representatives explained the progress of programs and initiatives of Tokopedia and Shop Tokopedia in promoting domestic products through the 2024 National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) and the Festival Beli Lokal.
Meanwhile, the Minister conveyed that the government expects TikTok to comply with the laws and regulations when conducting trade activities through electronic systems (PMSE), promote the branding and prioritization of local products, encourage consumer literacy in smart online shopping, and support the supervision carried out by the illegal import task force.
On this occasion, the Minister was accompanied by the Director General of Domestic Trade, Moga Simatupang; Special Staff of the Minister of Trade for International Trade Agreements, Bara Krishna Hasibuan; and the Director of Trade Through Electronic Systems and Trade Services, Rifan Ardianto.
