Ilham Habibie: Discussion with Developed Countries Important Opportunities in Industry Implementation 4.0

Jakarta - The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 is still one of the highlights in Indonesia since the launch of the Making Indonesia 4.0 road map in April last year. It also did not escape the National Information and Communication Technology Board (Wantiknas). On Wednesday (06/03) yesterday Wantiknas and industry representatives from several sectors namely, food and beverages, electronics, chemicals, and textiles, discussed Industry and Education 4.0 with the CEO of Technology Management Group (TMG) Munchen, Germany, Paul Gromball, via teleconference.

According to the head of the Wantiknas Implementation Team, Ilham Habibie, this event was one of the important opportunities to get input on the implementation of industry 4.0. "I think this discussion is very useful, because we can get input from one of the experts in the world related to the implementation of industry 4.0 and education as well, of course. Dr. "Gromball is a German, as we know, a German country which is a very advanced country in industry in general but also in industry 4.0," he said.

Furthermore, Ilham also explained that Germany was an advanced country in terms of industry which later examples of Dr. Gromball. "So how can the country progress with the examples given by Dr. Gromball who has planned and implemented 4.0 in this industry can be an example for Indonesia how to implement it, "explained the eldest son of the 3rd President of Indonesia.

Roadmap 4.0
In terms of the road map, Ilham added, the most important thing from the road map must be arranged as flexible as possible. "I think the roadmap is still in process, because technology is changing fast. So, the most important part of the roadmap must be as flexible as possible. So if there is new technology, we should not fixate on one thing that has been decided, but it may no longer be in accordance with what is needed today, "he explained.

"And what is important from the discussion we discussed earlier is that we are not deciding together what technology we will embrace, but actually more on the ability of implementation to adapt to the innovations that are needed. So that ability is important, and the system and people are also important, "he added.

In the implementation of Industry 4.0, a member of the Wantiknas Implementation Team, Garuda Sugardo, added that the need to safeguard local wisdom, despite global knowledge, is still implemented in accordance with the characteristics of the country itself. "Think globally act locally," said the man who had served as Telkomsel's Board of Directors.
